Trey Hillman, Manager of the Kansas City Royals, spent 5 years (from
2003-2007) in Japan as manager of the Nippon Ham Fighters. He brought the team
from its place at the bottom of the Pacific League in 2003 to its first place
finish in the league in 2006 and 2007. The Fighters also won the Japan Series
Championship in 2006.
Hillman’s present team, the Kansas City Royals was established in 1969 and
won the World Series in 1985. Since 1996, the Royals have struggled in the
American League Central Division. The team placed at the bottom of the Central
Division from 2004-2007. In 2008, the Royals called Trey Hillman to help
rebuild the team.
At this presentation, Mr. Hillman will speak about his baseball philosophy,
as well as touch on his management styles in both Japan and the U.S.
